Child Care
The New Discoveries Learning Center Program is dedicated to the education and development of all children, including those with special education needs. Our licensed program provides quality care for children ages six weeks through 5 years old.
Each child’s day is filled with hands-on activities that enhance the development of the whole child and the overall growth is promoted in a supportive, confidence-building environment. Infant and toddler development is addressed by a play-based curriculum, which includes toys, music, art, books and gross motor activities. For children ages 3 to 5 years old, our curriculum is based on High/Scope.
At the New Discoveries Learning Center, trained, qualified staff educate each group. Staff to child ratios include: one staff to four infants, one staff to five toddlers, one staff to seven preschoolers, and one staff to 10 school-aged children. These ratios allow our professionals to maximize quality and one-to-one interactions with students. Teachers and caregiver possess backgrounds in early childhood education and/or experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children. Physical, occupational and speech therapists also are on staff at the New Discoveries Learning Center to cater to the needs of the children.
For children with special needs, therapy programs and special developmental classes can be provided by licensed staff during the childcare day.
Parent involvement is always encouraged at the New Discoveries Learning Center. Many parents stop in for a visit, share lunch, or have fun at playtime with the students. Parents wishing to volunteer in the program are also welcome. A minimum of two parent-teacher conferences are scheduled each year at the convenience of the parent.
